Norfolk is in the East of England (or East Anglia) and is often referred to as 'Nelson's County'. This is because it is where Lord Horatio Nelson was born and brought up. The Norfolk Broads is a National Park and internationally recognized for the work it does to preserve the wetlands and the wildlife that lives there. The Broads are manmade and were formed in medieval times when the area was dug up for peat and then later flooded. This is a major playground for anyone who likes to be on or around water. The Broads are popular as a boating holiday but there are plenty of Norfolk hotels which are on solid ground and still let you soak up the atmosphere and join in the fun.
